The controversy stemmed from a purported WhatsApp status update by Rodrygo, seemingly rejecting the “BMV“ moniker. The post, which was quickly deleted, followed Rodrygo’s goal in a 1-1 draw against Real Mallorca. Despite the player’s silence on the matter, the incident fueled speculation about his comfort at the club.
