Adrian Peterson, the former NFL running back and 2012 MVP, is once again in legal trouble as two warrants for his arrest have been issued in Fort Bend County, Texas. The warrants stem from Peterson’s failure to appear in court for two separate child support cases, adding to a growing list of off-field challenges for the 39-year-old.

Peterson, who retired from professional football just three years ago, has struggled financially despite earning over $100 million during his illustrious 15-year NFL career. Earlier this year, he was ordered to pay off $12.5 million in debt tied to a 2016 loan of $5.2 million, which ballooned significantly due to interest and legal fees. A Houston judge had previously directed Peterson to turn over several assets in an effort to address the debt.

In the child support cases, the warrants issued are capias warrants, which aim to enforce court compliance rather than act as evidence of a criminal offense. One case involved a judge signing a qualified domestic relations order earlier this week, granting the child a portion of Peterson’s NFL benefits to fulfill child support obligations.

This is not the first time Peterson has faced legal issues. In October, he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault after being accused of slapping a woman earlier in the year. He avoided jail time but was fined $500.

Peterson’s history of legal troubles stretches back to 2014, when he faced felony child abuse charges for disciplining his four-year-old son with a switch. He ultimately avoided jail time by pleading no contest to misdemeanor reckless assault.

Once a dominant force in the NFL, Peterson is best remembered for his 10-year tenure with the Minnesota Vikings, where he earned seven Pro Bowl selections, four First-Team All-Pro honors, and led the league in rushing yards three times. His 2012 MVP season solidified his place as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history.

Despite his on-field success, Peterson’s legacy has been increasingly overshadowed by financial mismanagement and legal issues. His inability to meet financial obligations, including child support payments, has drawn significant scrutiny and raised questions about his post-football life.

The latest warrants put Peterson’s troubles back in the spotlight. The former star now faces a tough challenge to fix his financial and legal problems while trying to rebuild his damaged reputation.
